Are You on the North or Southside? and Into the Flow
This show hung at the libraries from September 10th to November 30th, 2023
Are You on the North or Southside?: Often, when meeting someone new in Edmonton, within the first few minutes people will ask where you live and orient the answer mentally to the north or south side of the Saskatchewan River. This piece addresses that, as well as shows and names the 19 bridges that currently exist in Edmonton and the dates they were built. The topographical lines are drawn into correct spots along the river. The maps used as an underlay to the piece, are all repurposed and randomly laid onto the board and blurred to emphasize the river and not roadways. I hope people will look at the piece and connect the dates bridges were built with neighborhoods, the development and expansion of the city.
Into the Flow: Whenever I carve into a piece of ceramic, I am quickly absorbed by the experience and find myself in an artistic state of flow. All my worries disappear, I begin to relax and I lose my concept of time. I work easily and continuously, moving with the flow of my mind, my hand and the artwork. This piece is inspired by Japanese block prints and the many approaches used in representing water.

Are You on the North or Southside?
This piece hung at Harcourt House from June 25th to July 9th, 2022. The panel is collaged with a variety of repurposed maps of the city of Edmonton. The gradation of the river banks and placement of bridges is as close to correct as I could make them. My husband, Neil Lamoureux 3D printed the car bridges and walking bridges with the names and dates of when they were built on top of them.

Pansydemic
These pieces were up at the library for viewing from January to March of 2022.
This paragraph hung together with the mixed media pieces:
It was way too early in the spring to be hoping there would be any sort of annual flowers at the garden store but I found myself compelled to take a look anyway. Like many people, I had spent hours during the long winter months of the pandemic, dreaming of gardening, flowers and sunshine. To my great delight I found a wrapped pallet of pansies waiting to go out on to the sales floor. I loved the colours and the shapes of the leaves. The smiling flowers took my breath away. I spent many hours studying them and painting them at home. This gave me a way to escape from the chaotic world into my creative space and to try and focus on the positive experiences of the pandemic. That spring became the Pansydemic for me.

I had a show September 14th to October 19, 2013 at the Alberta Craft Council in the Discovery Gallery. This show was a commentary about how society has changed the way it corresponds, the messages it sends and the format that communication currently takes. A second exhibition ran alongside mine in the Discovery Gallery by Dale Lerner, a ceramic sculptor from Medicine Hat whose creatures are inspired by Robert Wallace Martin.
